A MAN who was missing for more than two days has been found safe and well.

Police say they have now located 86-year-old Russell Goldsmith, from Neville’s Cross, Durham, who went missing on Saturday morning after going out to get a newspaper.

Durham Police had launched a search for Mr Goldsmith, who has dementia and poor mobility. 

A police spokesperson said: “We are very pleased to say that missing man Russell Goldsmith has been located.

“He is safe and well, and is on his way to hospital for mental and physical assessment.

“We would like to say an enormous thank you to the outpouring of support we have had over the last few days, from the community helping to spread the word, to volunteers giving their time to assist in the search for Russell.

“We rely heavily on support from the public, and in this instance, it has resulted in Russell's coming home safe.”
