LIFESAVERS, a children’s group and a heritage project were among those to receive financial support from a council this month.
Ferryhill Town Council made donations to a number of groups that benefit residents including £150 to Little Treasures Autism Group, £100 to volunteer carer and transport charity Supportive, £100 to the Great North Air Ambulance Service and £3,000 to Citizens Advice County Durham.
The Mayor of Ferryhill Councillor Richard Smith also presented a cheque for £340 to Carole Atkinson, Stephen Kelly and Brian Avery of Ferryhill Banner Group.
The donation will be used towards transport and expenses for taking the Dean & Chapter Banner and Mainsforth Banner to Durham Miners Gala on Saturday, July 14 accompanied by Ferryhill Town Band.
Cllr Smith said the donations were an example of the council’s commitment to supporting local organisations, that work for the benefit of the community in Ferryhill.
