A MARKET town will be transported back to the 1940s next week.

Barnard Castle’s annual 1940s Weekend returns on Friday, June 22 and promises fun for all the family. The fun starts at TCR The Hub in Shaw Bank at 7pm on Friday, with a concert by the Vintage Belles. Tickets are still available priced at £10.

From 10am on Saturday and Sunday, visitors can enjoy re-enactment groups, memorabilia displays, stalls, vintage vehicles and more on Scar Top, Woodleigh grounds and the Market Place. There will also be live music and free entry to the castle.

On Saturday, an RAF Spitfire is scheduled to fly over the town at 12.37pm and an infantry firing display will take place at 3pm.
