A WOMAN has reported being raped around the same spot where another said she had been attacked last year.
Police have arrested a man after the alleged victim said she was attacked in the Charles Street area of Redcar on Sunday.
In May last year, a woman said she had been raped in the alley behind the street, with a 55-year-old man arrested but later released as police continued their investigations into the incident.
On Sunday, police cordoned off steps to the footbridge that crosses the railway line running close to the street.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said the force had received a report of rape in the early hours of Sunday morning.
She added: “A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and he has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.”
