PRISON: Deerbolt Young Offenders' Institution, near Barnard Castle
PRISON officers at a young offenders' institution were able to swiftly bring a disturbance among inmates under control on Monday night.
Residents of Barnard Castle heard sirens near Deerbolt but a Durham police spokesperson said the incident was dealt with by staff.
A Prisons Service spokesman said: "A contained incident occurred at HMYOI Deerbolt yesterday and was promptly resolved by prison officers."
