THESE three girls will play a starring role in their village’s fun day this weekend.
Amy Hobson will be the carnival queen at Cotherstone Fun Day on Saturday, with attendants Kitty Goldsborough and Emmy Blagdon.
The Cotherstone Primary School pupils and Rhythm Train will lead a fancy dress procession from the Fox and Hounds at 12.55pm. Judging will be on East Green.
The village hall will hold stalls, refreshments and a raffle which will be drawn at 3.30pm. There will be sports and a barbecue at the playpark from 3pm and a duck race in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance on East Green at 5pm. Cotherstone Pre-School will host a beetle drive in the village hall at 6pm, with a pie and peas supper and guests should take their own drinks.
On Friday there will be a fun run at 6pm from behind the Fox and Hounds followed by quoits.
And already underway is a scarecrow competition which runs until June 24.
The fun continues on Sunday. At 10.30am there will be football, children’s sports and egg throwing at The Hagg. At 1pm there will be a dog show and barbecue and at 4pm Songs of Praise will be held on the green.
