A NORTH-EAST comedian is to feature in a new show about fishing.
Middlebrough-born Bob Mortimer, comedy partner of Vic Reeves, is teaming up with fellow funnyman Paul Whitehouse – best known for co-creating The Fast Show – for the series.
The BBC Two show, titled Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, follows complete novice Mortimer and experienced angler Whitehouse on expeditions to various fishing spots across the country.
The journey proved to be a poignant trip for the long-time friends, as they have both suffered complex heart diseases in recent years.
As well as candidly discussing coming face-to-face with mortality, the series will also see them chat about everything from fame to relationships and romance.
Whitehouse, 60, said: “We thought it was quite a humorous idea, these two old idiots, really, behaving like children.”
l Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing starts on BBC Two on Wednesday, June 20.
