THE CLASSIC Austin 7 driven by actor Christopher Timothy in All Creatures Great and Small is to feature in a forthcoming car event.

Classics on Show, organised by the Rotary Club of Stokesley, returns to Stokesley Show Ground on Saturday, June 16.

One of the highlights will be the famous blue 1934 Classic Austin 7 car, which was driven by James Herriot actor Christopher Timothy in the hugely popular television series.

Ian Ashton, managing director of The World of James Herriot said: “We are pleased to be able to support Rotary Club of Stokesley, and all the charitable work they do. And hope that the event will be a record fund raising year for them.”

The event will also feature a parade of motor car clubs which include those dedicated to Jaguars, Aston Martins, Capris. Teesside Yesteryear Motor Club will also feature. During the afternoon there will be a parade of pre-1940s vehicles and post-1940s cars and performances by Bilsdale Silver Band.

Sacred Heart Secondary Catholic Voluntary Academy from Redcar, who have supported the event for the past five years, will be providing refreshments in their NAAFI café, dressed in 1940s costumes.

Chris Mayes, from the rotary club, said: “We look forward to giving a warm welcome to everyone coming along to this great event.

“It will be an impressive show for all the visitors who have an interest in seeing such a vast array of classic vehicles, and a great opportunity to chat to the owners.

“We hope that this year will be a record fund raising event, to help all the charities we support.”

The event will be supported by sponsors SG Petch car dealership in Middlesbrough and Applebridge Construction and Kier have made a donation.
