A SELL-OUT event had the X Factor as more than £30,000 was raised for a North-East hospice.

This year’s Butterwick Hospice Ladies Day at Hardwick Hall Hotel, near Sedgefield, was a sparkling success as 1,300 glamorous women let their hair down in the Grand Marquee.

Top class entertainment was provided by X Factor singers Matt Linnen and Sam Black, as well as The Jersey Tones, Take That tribute act Rule The World, and local band Faith.

There was an emotional moment as the ladies were joined by North-East Junior Fundraiser of the Year, Callum Lane-Tingle, nine, from Fairfield, Stockton.

Callum, whose father Andy is being treated at the hospice, presented the Butterwick with a cheque for £5,000, and he and his dad raised a further £1,400 on the day.

Callum was recently honoured at the Pride of Britain North-East Awards for raising more than £15,000 for cancer charities over the past year.

The guests also enjoyed a two-course lunch and lots of shopping opportunities during the fun-packed event.

Butterwick Hospice head of marketing and fundraising, Jo Wallis, said: “It was a fantastic day and we are so grateful to everyone who supported Butterwick Hospice.

“Special thanks to John Adamson and his team at Hardwick Hall for providing such an excellent venue, and to Tess Tickle for being the hostess with the mostest, and keeping us entertained all day.”
