AMATEUR actors and actresses in Sedgefield are putting the final touches to their latest production.

The Sedgefield Players will perform a series of small plays as part of The Jewish Wife and Other Plays from Thursday, June 14, until Saturday, June 16.

Written by Bertolt Brecht just before the Second World War, the plays are taken from a larger work, Fear and Misery of the Third Reich, and looks at the rising challenges facing the German nation result of the growing Nazi Party.

The piece is mainly set in the round and will see the group change sets and read stage directions while male parts will be played by women.

A spokesperson for the group said: “This is a completely different type of production from the group and also includes members of our SPYS (youth section), which is a great opportunity for them.

“It is a bold move by Thomas Guest, our director, to produce this type of theatre, we do hope that people will come along and watch and appreciate what we are doing.”

It will be staged in Sedgefield Parish Hall at 7.30pm during the three-day run.

Tickets are £7 and are available from Tickety Boo, on High Street, or online at sedgefieldplayers.co.uk
