DOZENS of dog lovers have shown off their four-legged friends as part of a family fundraiser event to support a much-loved hospice.

Pets from all walks of life were invited to compete in more than 20 classes – from waggiest tail to a Disney-themed fancy dress class – in aid of Darlington's St Teresa's Hospice.

Rosettes were given out for each dog placing first to fifth in each class, with trophies also dished out among the top dogs.

The charitable dog show was held on Sunday in Darlington's South Park and attracted families from across the region, bringing along a range of breeds of puppies and dogs of all ages and abilities.

Pet owners took to social media following the family fun day, with entrants travelling to the town from as far away as West Yorkshire and Northumberland to support the cause, adding that they had had a "great time" on the day.

Stalls, displays and doggy agility courses were also available as part of the event, which included traditional classes such as best pedigree and awards for adult and child handlers.

Rosettes were also handed out in the best cuddles class.

Proceeds from the event will go to St Teresa’s Hospice.
