A TEACHER enjoyed tea and pastries with the Queen as reward for her hard work.
Kate Morris, acting headteacher at Wolsingham School in Weardale and her PA Gillian Norbury attended the garden party at Buckingham Palace last Tuesday.
Miss Morris was nominated to attend the royal bash by Sue Snowdon, the Queen’s Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, following the official opening of Wolsingham School’s new building by the Duke of Gloucester.
Speaking after the garden party, Miss Morris said it had been a privilege to represent Weardale at the event.
“We enjoyed a very special day and feel very privileged to have been part of such a royal occasion,” she said.
“It was a splendid affair with brass bands playing on the lawn, beautiful formal gardens to explore and a delicious tea with a stunning array of sandwiches and pastries. We even had some sunshine.
“The highlight was, of course, seeing the Queen and other members of the royal family including Prince Andrew and Prince Edward and Edward’s wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex. It was a real honour to be able to represent Wolsingham School and the ongoing hard work and commitment of all of the school staff.”
