A MOTORCYCLIST has been flown to hospital following a crash on the A68 near Crook.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) attended the scene between Harperley Roundabout and Helme Park Hotel at around 2.30pm today.
A spokesperson said no other vehicles were involved in the collision which left the rider, a man in his 60s, with severe injuries to his leg.
A GNAAS crew worked alongisde paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service to treat the patient before airlifting him to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, where he arrived in a stable condition.
At 2.25pm Durham Police posted on Facebook to say the stretch of road was closed.
