A CHARITY golf day hosted by Sir A P McCoy OBE has raised £3,490 for the Injured Jockeys Fund.

The event, at Rockliffe Hall on Monday, April 30, was attended by Alan Shearer CBE, Tony Pulis, Neil Bauser and Graham Wylie CBE, and saw Rockliffe Hall Golf Club members Paul Morrison, Rob Wytcherley, Kevin English and Colin Forster win the competition.

Jack Berry MBE, vice president of the Injured Jockeys Fund, also attended the event and a team from one of the charity’s rehabilitation centres, Jack Berry House in Malton, North Yorkshire, took part.

The Injured Jockeys Fund has spent more than £18m in helping around 1,000 jockeys whose injuries have forced them to give up riding – providing care, compassion and financial help.

There were 18 teams of four competing, with James Bell Junior winning Nearest the Pin and Andy Herridge winning Longest Drive.

Guests enjoyed a two course dinner in the evening and a raffle to raise additional funds for the Injured Jockeys fund, with prizes including spa treatments and golf days.
