Bishop Auckland slipped deeper into relegation trouble when they were easily beaten 6-0 at home by Sunderland RCA last night Bishops got off to a bad start after 6 minutes, when centre half Wilf Dinsdale was off the field receiving treatment. A free kick was chipped into the box for Luke Page to head over Gareth Young into the net, and then a minute later Young failed to hold a shot from Stephen Callen and Page tucked in the loose ball.

And Bishops gave themselves plenty to do when Young could only parry a shot straight to the feet of Callen who knocked the ball in. It was 4-0 on 26 minutes when Nathan O’Neill headed in a left wing cross from Ross McNab. And it was 5-0 on the stroke of half time when Ross Preston beat Young with a diving header from a right wing free kick.

Bishops improved slightly in the second half, but Callen’s right foot shot on 73 minutes made it 6-0. They are now three points above third bottom Jarrow Roofing, but have played two games more.

Shildon lost 1-0 at Guisborough. Shildon player-manager Danny Moore was shown his second yellow on 67 minutes, and four minutes later Guisborough took the lead with an effort by veteran striker David onions.

In the second division, Northallerton won 3-1 at Brandon to go top of the table.

They took the lead with a Richie Walker penalty, then Nick Martin sidefooted the second. Brandon pulled a goal back at the start of the second half through Lee Blades, but Martin quickly put Northallerton 3-1 up again.

Darlington RA are still in trouble after losing 3-0 at Heaton Stannington, conceding all the goals in the first half.
