DARLINGTON Scouts has shown an increase in not only its youth members but also adult leaderships, with more than 550 young people meeting weekly and more than 115 adults enabling this to happen.
And now thanks to youth investment funding, the Scouts are looking to expand, starting with two free open events.
Joanne Hennessey, Scouts' growth and development officer for Durham, said: “The opportunities (Darlington Scouts district) provide for young people from six to 25 are fantastic.
"We believe in helping our members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give people of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make lifelong friends.”
The open events are:
19th Darlington Scouts – Eight to 14-years-old, Friday, April 27, 6.30pm to 8pm, Corporation Road Primary School.
14th Darlington Cubs – Eight to ten-years-old, Monday, June 11, 6.30pm to 8pm, the Scout Hut, St Andrew's Church.
