A FREE park and ride train is being run by a heritage railway to help spectators make the most of the Tour de Yorkshire as it comes through Wensleydale.
The Wensleydale Railway is operating the service from Redmire Station to Leyburn on Saturday May 5 when Stage 3 of the race goes through. Organisers say Leyburn is expected to be extremely busy with parking at a premium so shuttle trains from Redmire will operate from 10am.
Passengers do not have to book unless they have a bike which will need a special ticket. Stage 3 goes from Richmond to Scarborough and is due through Leyburn at 1.30pm. The railway will not be running other services on the day because the route crosses the tracks. The shuttle is free with donations welcome. For information email admin@wensleydalerailway.com .
