BEDALE Community Library is recruiting the youngest possible readers with a new scheme for babies and toddlers up to four.

Rhyme Time was launched as part of the first anniversary celebrations after running of the library was taken over by volunteers.

The first session was held last week and was a huge success attracting many parents who brought their children along for their first taste of library time.

Sessions are held on Monday afternoon from 2.15pm to 2.45pm.

The library has extended its opening hours after running for more than 1,000 hours since being relaunched as a community library in April last year and is now operating on Thursdays from 3pm to 6pm.

To mark the popular Tour de Yorkshire coming through Bedale for the first time special Books and Bicycles story times are being held on Friday May 4 and Saturday May 5.

And by popular demand free digital events are being run in the library on Tuesdays in April and May from 2pm to 4pm with help available to improve skills.
