POLICE stepped up their patrols in a North Yorkshire town after a man exposed himself to a young girl.

The 13-year-old was walking near a ginnel off Stockwell Road in Knaresborough at around 3.40pm on Wednesday afternoon when the man exposed himself.

She ran home and told her parents who reported it to the police.

Enquiries have been ongoing, including a trawl through CCTV and speaking to local residents.

There were potential witnesses nearby at the time, including a man on a mobility scooter and they have been urged to contact the police.

Officers are working with local schools to raise awareness about the incident and reassurance patrols are also being carried out in the area while the investigation continues.

The suspect is described as 6ft tall with a slim build and short dark and grey hair.

He was wearing a checked top and baggy blue jeans.
