THE weekend is nearly here, not sure what to do this weekend? Here's a few ideas.

Yorkshire's Jurassic World, Yorkshire Museum, York, from Saturday

Take an epic journey back through 150 million years of Yorkshire to discover lost giants and the changing worlds they inhabited in this major new exhibition at the Yorkshire Museum.

From the depths of the deepest seas to the ancient coasts and tropical shallows; meet the dinosaurs and sea monsters that once roamed our vast and ever-changing landscapes.

Experience each Jurassic world as the colossal creatures and their surroundings are brought to life using the latest research and ground-breaking technology. Inspect the finest details of an ichthyosaur as its flesh and skin are superimposed over its preserved skeleton; serve a sauropod dinosaur its supper as our VR headset reincarnates the oldest sauropod remains ever found in the UK; tremble at a terrifying Megalosaur tooth as you stand amid its hunting habitat, and much more.

The Northern Echo:

Twelfth Day, Barningham village hall on Saturday, 7.30pm

In the wordless communication that passes between Orcadian fiddler Catriona Price and Peebles harpist Esther Swift as they perform, the strength of their decade-long musical partnership, friendship and shared humour is evident.

It’s this depth of connection, and tangible desire to have fun, that gives Twelfth Day its extra edge. In their own words, this is not so much a duo, but a two person quartet.

Their two distinctly different voices, the fiddle, and the pedal harp, build layer upon layer of a complex and ever-evolving sound, rich with rhythm, harmony and texture.

Tickets on 01833-621203.

Easter concert, The Dolphin Centre, Darlington on Saturday, 7.30pm

RADS: Journey's End, Georgian Theatre Royal, Richmond, on Saturday, 7:30pm

R.C. Sherriff's ground-breaking play remains one of the most powerful and successful pieces of modern drama, acclaimed for its portrayal of the tragedy and horror of conflict.

Set over the course of four days leading up to a massive German attack on the British trenches in 1918, Journey's End charts the tension and claustrophobia as the new recruit to the company, Lieutenant Raleigh, discovers that Captain Stanhope, his former childhood friend and hero, has changed almost beyond recognition.

The first night of RADS' production will coincide exactly with the 100th anniversary of the opening artillery barrage of Operation Kaiserslacht, the German offensive which comprises the play's last moments.

Tom Thumb, Arc, Stockton on Saturday, 11.30am and 2.30pm

One night tiny Tom overhears Mum and Dad talking - there's nothing left to eat so they are going to leave him and his six brothers in the forest.
Outwitting his parents and the ogre Tom shows everybody that even though he is small he is still mighty as he protects his brothers, finds the treasure and makes sure they'll never be hungry again.

Performed entirely on and under a kitchen table this wee wonder of a show is full of Lyngo magic with feathery spinning birds, a flying house and a portable forest. Cbeebies Patrick Lynch, who has been performing it for more than a decade, brings this classic story to life in a playful and fascinating show.
