A ROAD was closed during rush-hour in Bowburn following a crash between two cars this morning.
A police spokesman said: “We received a call from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) just before 9am today to a two-vehicle crash in Bowburn.
“The collision involved two vehicles, a Nissan Qashqai and a Vauxhall Astra, and took place at the traffic lights on the A177 Durham Road, at the junction with Prince Charles Avenue, close to Bowburn North Industrial Estate.”
The road was closed in both directions for a couple of hours while emergency services cleared the scene.
A CDDFRS spokesperson said: “We had an appliance from Spennymoor and one from Durham and a special unit attend. We made the scene safe. One man walked to the ambulance.”
A spokesperson from the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.55am to calls of a road traffic collision on the A177.
“We dispatched a double-crewed ambulance and we have taken one patient to the University Hospital of North Durham.”
