MILITARY volunteers who have given exemplary service have been recognised by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.
Lord-Lieutenant Barry Dodd presented certificates to five North Yorkshire nominees at a ceremony at York’s Worsley Barracks.
Among those receiving recognition were Captain Brendan Anglim of Ampleforth and Sergeant Stephen Young of Catterick village.
Capt Anglim joined the Territorial Army - now the Army Reserve- after working with the Royal Engineers building a clinic in Botswana.
Contingent Commander Ampleforth Combined Cadet Force Major Miles Blackford nominated Capt Anglim for the award and described him as “an inspirational leader, sound administrator and astute tactician.”
Sgt Young joined the RAF Regiment in 1978 at the age of 17 and has since undertaken operational tours in Northern Ireland, Germany and the UK.
