A DELIVERY driver was stopped by police on his way to taking hot food to an address in Trimdon Village on Sunday.

Officers found he did not have the appropriate business insurance and was dealt with by the road policing unit.

They issued a warning to all drivers that they need appropriate insurance, including business insurance where applicable.

Police said they will continue to carry out checks in the area and take action against those who do not have the necessary insurance.

"Whilst it may seem insignificant to some, if you have an accident without the correct insurance, your policy will be void and this can have devastating effects upon anyone involved in that accident," a spokesperson said.
