POLICE are issuing a warning to residents going on holiday.
Since the beginning of March, officers have seen a report of one burglary and one attempted burglary in the Ponteland area, both occurring late in the evening.
Haydon Bridge has seen one burglary which occurred in the late evening midweek where an outhouse was entered and stone urns stolen as well as damage caused to a ground floor window.
Police are asking the public to report anything, or anyone, suspicious – if it looks out of place, it may well be.
Neighbourhood Inspector Pam Bridges said: “If you are going away for a few days review your security and consider timer lights or telling a trusted friend or neighbour to keep an eye on your home. Don’t advertise to thieves on social media that you are going out of town and always report any suspicious behaviour to the police.”
- Anyone with any concerns should contact their local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
