COUPLES looking for a venue for their special day should be sure to visit Aykley Heads House Register Office in Durham when it hosts a wedding open day this weekend.

The event, on Sunday, March 25, from 11am to 3pm, offers bride and grooms-to-be the chance to view the ceremony rooms and meet the registrars.

There will also be the opportunity to find inspiration for every element of the day, with local companies showcasing a range of supplies, from wedding cakes to wedding dresses and stationary to suits.

Wendy Addison-Smith, Durham County Council’s ceremony coordination team leader, said: “Our register offices are always popular settings for weddings of all styles and sizes.

“The wedding fair will offer couples the chance to have a look around Aykley Heads House, ask us questions, and start planning their big day.”

County Durham’s registration service conducts about 1,600 ceremonies each year at both its register offices and more than 40 licensed premises.

Aykley Heads House offers a choice of ceremony rooms that can cater for small intimate gatherings to larger events with up to 55 guests.

The event is free to attend.
