A TRADITIONAL family Easter egg hunt is taking place on March 31 on historic pasture land across Richmond.

The event organised by local land charity, the Richmondshire Landscape Trust, regularly attracts over 200 families. Event organiser, Veronica Robson, said: “Our Family Easter Egg Hunt has become a firm fixture in the town’s social calendar and we have many people returning year after year. This is the fourteenth year that we have run the event and the feedback we receive is that it is a much-loved and fun part of many families’ Easter celebrations."

This year they say whatever the weather, hail, rain or even snow the event will be going ahead.

The hunt has helped the Trust buy areas of land across the town which have been under threat. The charity now owns and manages several pieces of land around Richmond for community use and uses the money raised to maintain and enhance the different areas.

Ms Robson said Westfields is a large area of undulating pasture land that has spectacular views across the town towards the castle and was originally part of Richmond's medieval three-field system. The event sets off from a layby next to the allotments on Westfields at 2pm, tickets are available on the day or in advance email lorraine@belfrys.co.uk.
