PUPILS at a Darlington school have entertained hundreds of people and raised funds for a hospice with a “fabulous” display of talent.

Longfield Academy staged “Longfield Live” – a performing arts festival, featuring 23 acts, singing, dancing, and playing music.

A sell-out audience of 230 people, comprising parents, members of the community, and fellow pupils, paid £2 for tickets to see the show. There was also raffle and tuck shop with all the proceeds going to St Teresa’s Hospice.

The Longfield Dance Team received a standing ovation after a spectacular finale.

The event was organised by teachers Rebecca Eldrington, Rachael Piggett, and Nick Trenholm.

Miss Eldrington said: “We have staged a dance festival before but this was the first time we have incorporated all the performing arts and it was a resounding success.

“There was so much talent on show and we are really proud of everyone who took part. The audience reaction was fantastic and we are definitely looking to make it an annual event.”
