AFTER months of hard work and determination, the NASUWT Riverside Band became North of England Brass Band champions at the weekend.
The band competed in the championships at the weekend hosted by the Gala Theatre, Durham, and under the direction of Dave Roberts, became champions for the second year in a row.
Runners up were The Reg Vardy band and in third place was Fishburn Band.
A spokesman for the NASUWT Riverside Band said: “We are absolutely thrilled to become North of England champions for the second year in a row.
“We also gained several other prizes with special mention to James Beeston, best euphonium, Phill Tait, best soprano cornet, our trombone section, our percussion section and our bass section.”
The winners will compete in the National Brass Band Championships at the Royal Albert Hall in October.
