THESE beautiful icicles were pictured by Northern Echo photographer Sarah Caldecott on the roadside between Etherley and Bishop Auckland.
The frozen formations came as parts of Britain were still feeling the effects of the so-called 'Mini Beast from the East'.
A spokesman for the Met Office said as far as the North-East was concerned over the next day or so 'ice is likely to form on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths. This increases the risk of accidents, as well as injuries from slips and falls'.
