A FOOTBALL fan from County Durham got the once in a lifetime chance to walk out onto the pitch with his favourite team.

Eight-year-old James Glass was a Mascot at the Manchester United vs Sevilla Champions League match on Tuesday.

The opportunity was thanks to James’ father David Glass who entered a competition run by Mastercard and Virgin Money.

Mr Glass, of Sedgefield, said: “He got to go behind the scenes, meet some of the players and try on David Beckham’s football boots and shirt. They made a big fuss of the kids and he absolutely love it.”

James, who is said to “live and breathe football”, plays on the left wing for Sedgefield U8, Trimdon Us and the Alun Armstrong MFC Academy, in Shildon.

One of 22 to win the competition, James was mascot for goalkeeper David De Gea for the sold out match in front of nearly 80,000 spectators.

Mr Glass accompanied the youngster to the game with his wife and daughter.
