A SCHOOL’S fundraising drive has raised thousands in memory of a little girl who died from a rare brain condition.

Yarm Preparatory School’s parent association recently raised £2,562 with an Arabian Nights-themed ball, including a charity auction and raffle.

The money will be donated to Remembering Rebecca, a charity launched in memory of 21-month-old Rebecca Sands, a little girl from Ingleby Barwick, who died in 2010 from Lissencaphaly.

School head, Bill Sawyer, said: “The money raised will aid the important work that the charity is doing to support children and families affected by neurological diseases, and help them access the specialist equipment that they need to improve their quality of life.”

Christina Tomlinson, a Trustee of Remembering Rebecca, “On behalf of everyone at Remembering Rebecca, I would like to say a big thank you to Yarm Prep School for raising an amazing amount of money.

“We are grateful for the support and the money will go towards helping local families in need.”
