THE future of a once thriving pub remains in the balance after it went unsold under the hammer.

The Haynes Arms at Kirby Sigston near Northallerton was auctioned with a guide price of around £200,000 at Leeds United’s Elland Road.

It went on the market at the start of last year with a leasehold guide price of £15,000 before being altered to a freehold basis with a guide of £275,000.

The stone build public house sits on a 0.45-acre plot in a prominent position on the side of the A19.

In 2012, the pub was bought by Peter McCoy, former owner of the Cleveland Tontine and the Golden Lion in Osmotherley.

Inside there is a bar, games room, restaurant, customer toilets, commercial kitchen, storage and beer stores.

The first floor has three double bedrooms, a living room, kitchen, lounge and bathroom/WC.

To the rear there is a terraced patio and car parking for around 30 vehicles.

A 1.38-acre paddock/field to the north of the pub with a guide price of at least £30,000 also failed to sell.
