A WILDCAT protest which yesterday saw an ambulance delayed and motorists abandon their cars on the A66 was underway again this morning.

Up to 60 protestors were on site again at Tees Dock road this morning, Friday, in the second day of an unofficial industrial demonstration against MGT Power. However, police said they have left the site and traffic is flowing normally.

Yesterday’s protest caused severe delays and lengthy tailbacks for motorists on the A66 in east Middlesbrough.

And reports suggested that an ambulance was delayed in the jam as it tried to make its way to a man with a life-threatening condition who had collapsed in Morrisons in Redcar.

Police said motorists suck in the deadlocked traffic had abandoned their cars yesterday, causing even more tailbacks around Eston, South Bank, Grangetown and the Tees Dock area.

This morning Cleveland Police had warned motorists to avoid the area if possible and to allow extra time for their journeys.

The protest follows workers walking off-site at MGT’s Tees Renewable Energy Plant on Wednesday in a row over the use of foreign labour and working conditions.
