A PENSIONER has been arrested in connection with attempted armed robberies at three premises in Newton Aycliffe.
The incidents took place at about 8.25am today at Booze Busters, Coffee Pronto and Youngs Post Office in the town centre.
The 69-year-old local man was arrested without incident, and a weapon was recovered.
Det Insp Neil Jones, of Bishop Auckland CID, said: “Upon receiving these reports, response teams were quickly mobilised, and the suspect was detained.
“There were no injuries sustained, and there is not believed to be any ongoing danger to the public.”
- Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any related information is asked to contact Durham Police on 101, quoting incident number 57 of February 22.
