POLICE are warning people against the dangers of taking medication not prescribed to them after prescription drugs were stolen from a chemists overnight.
In the early hours of this morning, at around 1.20am, Chambers Chemist in Percy Main, North Tyneside, was broken into.
A number of drugs were stolen from the premises including Ritlin, Tapentadol, Afential, Dextromoramide, Lisdexamfetamine, Diamorphine, Hydropmorphone, Fentanyl, Pethidine, Morphine and Oxidone.
Inspector Rob Bosson, of Northumbria police, said: "I'd warn those responsible or anyone who finds the drugs not to consume any of them, and would urge people not to buy or accept medication which is not specifically prescribed to them.
"The consequences of taking any of these medications without prescription could be fatal."
Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of the stolen medication is asked to contact the police, or if anyone finds them they are urged to take them to their nearest station.
