A CHILD rapist who worked alongside Prince William and Prince Harry in the Army has appeared in court after two weeks on the run.

Police hunting former paratrooper Wayne Domeney, 51, believed he was in the Consett area of County Durham, but he was found in Hampshire on Friday.

The former soldier was found guilty of a string of serious sex offences over a four-year period at Birmingham Crown Court earlier this month.

On Monday, he appeared Warwick Crown Court and was remanded into custody.

Domeney, who was previously known as Wayne Rackham, had been due to attend a trial on January 29 and the case went ahead in his absence.

Judge Katrina Montgomery issued a warrant for his arrest and he was found guilty of 13 charges by a jury on February 2.

Domeney was convicted of four counts of rape of a young girl, three counts of assaulting a girl by penetration, three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one count of intimidating a witness.

During a career spanning almost 25 years Domeney, who served with 2 Para, and became a Warrant Office Sergeant Major, took Princess Diana on a tour of Bosnian minefields and also met Prince Charles, with tours of Iraq and Afghanistan as well as serving in Northern Ireland.

He will be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court at a date to be fixed.
