MOUNTAIN rescuers who were out enjoying a leisurely ski were drafted in to help stranded vehicles on Buttertubs Pass in the Yorkshire Dales.
The Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team was called in by the police following reports that a number of vehicles and drivers were stranded on the remote road in snowy conditions yesterday afternoon.
Two team members were already out skiing and checking a venue for some winter training so they attended the scene to make sure the drivers were all well.
A snowplough was then used to clear the way for the motorists and the rest of the rescue team remained on standby.
