CHILDREN have been invited to a wildfowl and wetlands centre for puddle jumping fun.

WWT Washington will host hosts the third annual Dusty’s Puddle Jumping Championships from Saturday, February 10 to Sunday February 18.

Contestants can record the quickest time round a new Welly Bootcamp obstacle course or make the biggest, craziest splash against the special splash-o-meter.

WWT Washington’s centre manager Gill Pipes said: “We know that children love nothing more than to climb, jump and splash about in puddles, so this is a great opportunity for them to get closer to nature doing something that they enjoy.

“We also know that children who like playing outdoors often grow up to be adults that love the outdoors and through this event we’re gently building an interest that may help protect wetlands and the wildlife that depend on them for years to come.”

Dusty’s Puddle Jumping Championships are open to all competitors no matter what their age or ability and each contestant will receive a ‘splashtastic’ sticker to acknowledge their puddle-jumping and obstacle course-tackling efforts.

Dusty Duck was kindly designed exclusively for the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) by the world-famous Aardman studios, the studios behind Early Man, Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.

Normal admission price applies during the event.
