A NORTH-EAST film club is hosting a free showing to mark the end of the first season at its new County Durham base.

Darlington Video Makers Club, formed more than 50 years ago, moved its meeting hub from the town to Aycliffe Village in September.

Four months on, the group is inviting members of public to a free film showcase at Aycliffe Village Hall at 7pm on Tuesday, January 30.

The film will feature a range of topics including travel to foreign climes and “the odd injection of humour”.

Club members will be on hand during the interval to chat with any guests and advise on any video-related questions.

Since the move from Darlington last year, membership is said to have shown healthy growth and the new location has proved popular with both existing and new members.

Visitor contact Arthur Best said: “If you think that the world of amateur film making may be of interest to you and you wish to find out more about our club come and talk to us during the interval.”
