BUS passengers had to get to safety when a double decker bus caught fire.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at 8.40am this morning to reports of a vehicle ablaze on Throxenby Lane in Scarborough.
The fire service said all the passengers and the driver managed to leave the bus before the arrival of the fire brigade, who put out the flames with hose reels and foam.
A spokesman said the fire had started in the engine compartment and spread to the inside of the bus.
Two fire appliances from Scarborough attended the incident and one fire officer and spent about half an hour at the scene.
Nobody was harmed in the incident, but the bus was badly damaged by fire and the water.
