TELEVISION and radio presenter Scarlett Moffatt has decided to bite back at cruel online trolls who criticised her looks and weight.

The 2016 winner of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! spoke out after she was accused of manipulating her social media pictures to make her look slimmer than she is in real life.

Taking to Twitter the former Gogglebox star, who comes from Bishop Auckland, wrote: “When online papers/magazines try their hardest to use unflattering photos and drag women down do they realise what they’re doing to peoples mental health.

“I understand it’s part of the parcel of being in the public eye but body shaming NEEDS TO STOP!”

Miss Moffatt, who released a workout DVD in 2016 after she dropped three stone and five dress sizes, told a national newspaper the constant scrutiny over her weight has caused her anxiety.

A former pupil of Sunnydale School, in Shildon, and Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, in Darlington, she has also said she worries about the affect it has on other young women like her little sister Ava.

She said: “I spend days crying and putting on a brave face.

“I just don’t like this constant pressure.”

And she tweeted: “Tell me the size I should be please!

“I got slated when I slimmed down to a size 8 and I get slated when I’m a size 12.

"So please let me know what measurements I should be.

"And they wonder why young women are reduced to surgery!'"

Miss Moffatt’s comments follow online criticism about how she looked in pictures she shared with fans on Instagram compared to more candid shots taken by paparazzi while she was filming a segment for Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway in Florida.

Fans and famous friends rushed to her defence.

Reality TV star and fellow This Morning presenter Rylan Clark-Neal sent her a message via social media stating: “You’re gorgeous. End of.”

And television and radio presenter Gaby Roslin tweeted: “I’ll say it again and this time I’ll shout it! YOU ARE BLOODY WONDERFUL.”

After all the support she received, Miss Moffatt showed her disdain for trolls tweeting: “Don’t get bitter just get better- don’t even know why I replied back to a troll there. Come on Scarlett you’re better than that.”

And in a positive message to followers she wrote: “Have a wonderful day everybody and if you’re feeling a bit crap - get yourself in front of the mirror and focus on that one thing you love about yourself: whether it’s your smile, your eyes, you’re kindness!”

She then focused on good news, announcing her new job co-presenting a weekend show with Matt Edmondson on BBC Radio One.
