NEWCASTLE based music company Gigs North East has announced a partnership with Newcastle College in an effort to encourage and develop future talent in the creative industries.

The scheme, which begins in 2018, sees the two join forces to help students from the School of Creative and Digital Industries gain industry experience.

The groundbreaking partnership will see Gigs North East take on 12 interns in work placements designed to further student experience in graphic design, social media management, photography, sound production and live music promotion.

In addition to these placements, the company will also provide masterclasses, as well as running on-campus drop in centres for students who need advice/guidance.

Gigs North East boss Steve Davis said: “The scheme is a logical step forward to help develop young people in the region who want to work in this industry. We generally struggle for experienced staff when recruiting as there are more desirable roles in London/Manchester.”
