A CHARITY is looking for fitness fanatics who are not afraid of heights.

Teesside Hospice’s Vertical Rush is set to challenge people to race 160ft up the 209 steps of Middlesbrough’s Transporter Bridge.

The event on the 1911-built landmark, sponsored by Watt Fitness, is open to anyone aged 11 or over who is keen to support their local hospice, get fit, have fun and challenge themselves.

Joanne Bannatyne, of Watt Fitness, said: “We are a local business so it’s important for us to support a local charity who provide such vital care to our community.

"We are keen to see how our Watt Fitness coaches perform against the clock too.”

Debbie Coulson, marketing and fundraising manager at Teesside Hospice said: “We are so excited to be bringing the first event of this kind to Teesside.

"This is the perfect chance to challenge yourself whilst supporting people affected by cancer and other life limiting illnesses.”

“The kind support from Watt Fitness means every penny raised will directly benefit those we care for.”

Running times are available on March 17 and 18. Entry costs £17.50 until January 31, £45 until February 28, and £55 until the event. The price includes a t-shirt.
