TIRELESS fundraiser Mark Gallimore has proved willing to go the distance when it coms to helping cancer charity Candlelighters.

Since his son George completed his three-year treatment for leukaemia, Mark, from York, has conquered 292 miles in total.

In 2017 alone he took part in four 10Ks, the Great North Run, the Yorkshire Marathon, the Yorkshire Six Peaks and the Total Warrior Challenge.

This year he plans more - seven 10Ks, eight half-marathons, the Yorkshire Marathon, the Wharfedale Three Peaks walking challenge and Thirlmere walking challenge.

“If I can make a difference to a family by fundraising, the blisters and sore muscles are worth it," said Mark, who aims to hit 2,000 miles by 2024.
