BEACH lovers are being urged to take two minutes out of their day and take part in the Redcar & Cleveland ‘Love it’ campaign alongside Keeping it Clean at Saltburn (KICAS).

Launched in January 2017, KICAS has embraced the spirit of the ‘Love it’ campaign – which encourages residents to do one small thing to make a big difference to the environment of their local area – and has created ‘2 minute beach cleans’ encouraging visitors to the beach to take two minutes and pick up some litter.

To help with this, staff from the council supported KICAS in purchasing beach clean boards which have litter pickers and rubbish bags available for anyone looking to participate.

Councillor Alec Brown, the council's cabinet member for neighbourhoods, said: “The ‘2 minute beach clean’ initiative is a very clever idea and I hope it proves to be very successful. It is a great original idea, and visitors should be able to spare two minutes out of their visit to Saltburn to pick up some litter and keep the beach looking pristine.”

In addition to the ‘2 minute beach cleans’ KICAS has its own regular beach clean which will be held on the first Saturday of each month from 11am to 12pm starting at the pier car park.

The next event will take place on Saturday, February 3.
