CHRISTMAS has well and truly arrived at a Richmond nursery with the blossoming of more than 10,000 festive poinsettias.
The plants, which are synonymous with the Christmas period, have been lovingly grown from cuttings that arrived at Ravensworth Nurseries in July.
Now 12,000 of them are ready to find their new homes for Christmas.
Nursery partner Fiona Dean said: βIt is beautiful when they turn, it really is just like looking over a big red sea in front of you and they keep changing all the time.β
One legend that links the flower with Christmas is that of a Mexican girl who did not have a present to give to baby Jesus, so she picked and placed weeds on the altar, only for them to burst into red flower.
