A GRANDFATHER has transformed his home into a grotto fit for Santa to raise hundreds for charity.

Trevor Imeson, from Sessay near Thirsk, decorates his home with around three thousand bulbs, along with three pet deer and a life size nativity set.

He is aiming to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Forces Children’s Trust, which helps children whose parents have been killed in Afghanistan.

In its 19th year, he has help from daughter, Lynda, and grandson, Josh, who this year have organised a treasure hunt quiz.

The 72-year-old said: “We know somebody who was killed in the army so it’s great to think the money is going to families that could do with the help.

“Over the years we have bought more lights, and it takes two to three weeks to put everything up.

“The deer live with us all year round and we let visitors feed them anything from carrots to custard creams. They can’t get enough biscuits.”

His home in Moorgate Plantation is open to visitors throughout the festive period.
