TWO men have been arrested after cannabis plants believed to have a street value of thousands of pounds were discovered.

Police seized 42 cannabis plants and growing equipment when they carried out a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act from a house on Regent Terrace, Harrogate, on Thursday, December 14.

Although officers can’t confirm the street value of the plants, it is believed to be in the thousands.

A 36-year-old was arrested on suspicion of cannabis production and a 49-year-old on suspicion of possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

The men, both from Harrogate, have been released while under investigation.

Sergeant Joe McAvoy of Harrogate Police said: “Drug use is a blight on our communities and won’t be tolerated.

“If you have information about drug production or dealing in your neighbourhood, please let us know.

“Every small piece of information helps to build up a bigger picture, so we can take action.”

Anybody with information about possible drug production or dealing should contact police on 101.
