TAKING ‘extremely dangerous’ stolen medication could have life-threatening consequences, say police.

Morphine, liquid morphine and anti-depressants were stolen from the boot of a car parked on Middlesbrough’s Newport Terrace on Tuesday afternoon.

Three bottles of Oramorph were taken, along with 56 morphine tablets and 14 Amitryptyline tablets, according to Cleveland Poice.

The force has now issued an appeal asking anyone who comes across the medication to hand it to their nearest pharmacy or police station.

A statement said: “The medication could be extremely dangerous and could have life threatening consequences if taken by anyone other than the person it was prescribed for.”

The theft happened at around 4.50pm. Anyone with information or who has been offered the medicine should contact PC Deb Poole on non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
