A NORTH-EAST film club is to screen a tribute to much-loved TV presenter Keith Chegwin, who died on Monday.

Darlington Film Club will be showing Kill Keith, a 2011 comedy-horror movie, early next year.

Chegwin, who died aged 60 after battling a progressive lung condition, plays a breakfast television presenter, reprising his real-life role from The Big Breakfast.

The plot involves a mystery assassin bumping off contenders to replace the current show host, and also stars Joe Pasquale, Tony Blackburn and Russell Grant.

James Watson, of the film club, said: “I’ve been meaning to show this film for some time after two of our members recommended it.

“Everyone loved Cheggers and I hope this will be a fitting tribute to him.”

The film will be shown on the big screen at The Forum Music Centre on Borough Road, Darlington, on Monday, January 22.

Next Monday, December 18, the club will be showing the festive classic White Christmas, starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Starting at 7.30pm, entry is £3, including free popcorn.
